We know about the advantage to hitting the ball in the air and over the infield. Even super-hard hit grounders are most often easily scooped up by slick fielding infielders and turned into outs or even double plays. With outfielders now being positioned based on hitter tendencies, hitting the ball anywhere but over the fence is pretty risky!
